Introducing UBC Internet of Things (IoT) Wi-Fi Network

Rendering of devices connected by the internet of things
September 1, 2026

This fall, UBC has a new wi-fi network for personal devices - UBC Internet of Things (IoT). With this new wi-fi network, your laptop, phone, speakers, iPad, and other personal devices can see each other and work together just like they do at home. It’s secure, encrypted, and you can connect devices that are not supported on other networks such as ubcsecure, eduroam or ubcprivate. Whether you live on campus, commute, or are just here for the day, those personal devices now have a home on UBC wi-fi.

UBC Internet of Things wi-fi network is available across UBC Vancouver, UBC Okanagan, and remote sites where the UBC w-fi network is available.

Connect to the UBC IoT network in three easy steps:
1. Go to iot.ubc.ca and log in using your CWL (Multi-factor Authentication is required).
2. Add your devices (laptop, phone, console, TV, etc.) — the portal walks you through it.
3. That’s it. They’re online, private, and secure.

One thing to know: For now, log in once every 4 weeks to keep your devices active. It’s temporary while we’re automating this behind the scenes this fall, and we’ll email you a reminder before anything expires.
