Description

Features

UBC/Shaw Cable TV service provides a basic package of digital television channels. The channels included can change depending on the current agreement with Shaw.

Who Can Use This?

The UBC/Shaw Cable TV service is available in certain residences at UBC. It is also available in many administrative buildings.

Some Student residences have Coax cable installed in the walls for Shaw TV connections. Connections can be in the bedroom, while others may only have it in common areas like the living room of a quad, or the lounge of a building floor. There are some residences that do not have the ability to have Coax cable-based Shaw TV service at all.

Please check with your residences’ Front Desk for the type of availability in your residence.

Technical Requirements

A digital box from Shaw and a TV are required.

Pricing

Residential TV service cost is included in your rent if the building you live in has the TV service available.

Academic TV service cost is coordinated through your department's administrators, please enquire with them.

Typically, if there is no Coax TV wall plate at the location where you want to setup a TV, then your building does not support TV at these locations, meaning it cannot be added easily.

There will be an installation fee if you want to have new cables installed (usually if there is no cable outlet at a desired location). Monthly charges may apply in addition to installation fees.
