Manually Configuring AnyConnect in Mac OS X

Apple Mac OS X 10.13 and above

To manually install the myVPN client on Apple Mac OS X 10.13 and above, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Download and run the Mac OS X installer file (right click on the installer file and click Open)

  2. If prompted, click Open

  3. An installer window will open. Click Continue

  4. Click Install

  5. Enter the credentials to your computer when prompted, then click Install Software

  6. Allow the installer to run, then click on Yes when prompted to install the Cisco Umbrella Certificate

  7. Click OK to continue

  8. When prompted, click on Open Security Preferences

  9. A window for Security & Privacy will open. Click on the lock in the bottom left corner

  10. When prompted, enter the credentials to your computer and click Unlock

  11. Click on Allow

  12. Close the Security & Privacy window
  13. Click Allow when prompted to Filter Network Content

  14. The installation is complete. Close the installer

If you changed your security settings in Step 5 above, be sure to go back to your Security and Privacy and revert to your original settings for security.


To Connect to myVPN

You have 2 options in connecting to myVPN:

  • Login to and the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client should automatically launch
  • If you would like to connect without going to the website, use the installed client:
    1. Click on the Finder icon in your Dock
    2. Select Applications from the left navigation menu, and then go into the Cisco folder
    3. Double-click on Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client
    4. The Cisco icon should appear on the tray at the bottom and the AnyConnect client window should popup
    5. Ensure that it is connecting to, and then click on Connect
    6. Log in with your CWL credentials
    7. Once connected, the window will disappear and the icon on the dock will display an overlaid lock. You are now connected over VPN and can start working over the network as you normally would.


    To Disconnect From myVPN

    1. Click on the Cisco AnyConnect icon in the dock
    2. Click on the Disconnect button
