Discover New Ways of Learning with Language Chatsim and IT Chatbot at UBC EML’s Summer Showcase

Join us on August 28, 2019 at Emerging Media Lab’s Summer Showcase, featuring projects that the Lab has been working on this past academic term.  New projects added to this term’s showcase include Jupyter 3D, Volumetric Video in Medical Training, Fish Bash Game, as well as two projects developed in collaboration with UBC IT Staff - Language Chatsim and IT Chatbot.

Language Chatsim uses Virtual Reality and a chatbot to create an immersive environment where students can practice newly learned language.  In this current version, users can pick between learning English or German with an avatar in virtual reality.

The IT Chatbot is an artificial intelligence interactive teaching assistance tool that uses self-socractic exercises to help students ask themselves deep and insightful questions about a subject that they are interested in and prepare them for further questioning and answering.
