UBC IT now offers NVivo Software for staff and faculty

December 3, 2014

As part of the campus agreement, UBC IT is now offering NVivo software at no cost for UBC staff and faculty across campus. NVivo software is primarily used by researchers, evaluators, social workers and educators. It allows users to collect, organize, and analyze content from interviews, focus group discussions, surveys, audio, social media, videos and webpages.

Enterprise Active Directory (EAD) users are able to install NVivo onto their own computers through the new Software Centre program (instructions are available here). Non-EAD users must contact their IT Support Staff to install NVivo onto their computer for them.

NVivo licenses are term-based and will require a new license key to be entered upon expiration. At the time of expiry (September 27, 2015), NVivo will no longer be functional until a new license key is entered, the cost of which will still be covered by UBC IT. You can request a new key from your IT Support Staff.

More information about NVivo is available on the Software Licensing page in the IT Service Catalogue.

If you have any questions, please contact the Software Licensing Accounts Team for more information.
