UBC IT Pink Shirt Day 2020

This year, UBC IT participated in Pink Shirt Day for the first time by hosting a selfie photo booth where staff could take pictures of themselves wearing pink. Highlighting this year's Pink Shirt Day theme of "lift each other up," staff submitted answers on how they lift their teammates up when they are down. On February 26th, pink cupcakes were delivered to UBC IT office locations so that staff could take one to "lift someone up" and brighten their day.

Celebrated annually around the globe, Pink Shirt Day began in Canada in 2007 when two students took a stand against homophobic bullying after a student was harassed and threatened for wearing pink. Pink Shirt Day is about working together to stop bullying by celebrating diversity and promoting positive social relationships.
