As we begin a new academic term, we want to take a moment to remember the importance of cybersecurity. Staff and faculty at UBC are on the frontlines of protecting UBC, our students, and our community. By taking the first simple steps to stay secure, you can make a big impact on privacy and information security. Find out what you can do at Privacy Matters @ UBC. For faculty and staff, ensure you’ve completed the privacy and information security training. Almost every UBC faculty and staff member has access to confidential information, and it’s important to know how to protect it.
We are also excited to announce a significant step forward in enhancing the security of CWL accounts at UBC. Starting November 1, 2023, student CWL will require multi-factor authentication (MFA) to safeguard personal information and protect against unauthorized access. That means when students are off-campus, all services and applications that require a CWL account to log in may also ask for a second factor of authentication at initial log in. By implementing MFA, UBC is committed to providing a secure digital environment that protects personal information. To learn more, visit the multi-factor authentication articles in our knowledge base.
