It is easy for cybercriminals to build trust with their victims.  Ever opened a door to a secured building for someone you don’t know? This is one of the common ways for cybercriminals to gain access to a building and retrieve confidential information. Cybercriminals are often confident, give you good reasoning for their actions, and often, they have done sufficient research to gain an understanding of their victims so they can obtain their trust. 1
