EML Annual Summer Showcase  

The landscape of the classroom is changing. Check out how the Emerging Media Lab is innovating educational tools with emerging tech like VR/AR at our Annual Summer Showcase on Wednesday, September 16 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM via Zoom.

EML Fall Volunteer Intake   

We want to work with students who are motivated to learn new skills and influence innovation on campus! We're accepting volunteer applications for positions in development, design, and more. Want to learn more? Visit us at our virtual booth at Imagine UBC during the first week of September. Apply by Friday, September 18 at 11:59 PM.  


EMBC CoP Online Events 

The Emerging Media BC Community of Practice (EMBC CoP)is a collaborative group of researchers, developers, designers, and educators committed to building a community of practice focused on the development of emerging media technologies for human good.

The Community of Practice get-togethers have upgraded to monthly virtual events. Connect with great minds all across B.C. and beyond. Our last panel event invited speaks from along the West Coast to exchange ideas around "Delivering Value at a Distance." To join us at our next virtual event hosted by North Eastern University's Vancouver Campus in late September. Subscribe to the mailing list for registration details.


Weekly Drop-In Sessions 

Join us to learn about what we do at the Emerging Media Lab at our drop-in sessions every Wednesday from 1:30-2:30 PM online. This event is open to staff, students or faculty. RSVP and let us know what you'd like to learn about here


Call for Project Proposals

The Emerging Media Lab announces a new initiative to celebrate UBC teaching faculty and their use of emerging technologies to inspire different types of students interactions.

Faculty are encouraged to submit a brief paragraph description of the initiative they are preparing for online or enhanced in-person teaching including the tool(s) they are using and how they will be using it.

Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis. Project timelines begin in the first month of a school term. To start a project with the EML starting January 2021, submit an application by Friday, October 30 at 11:59 PM. 

All submissions will be reviewed by a committee made up of EML faculty-in-residence in addition to UBC Studios staff.
