IT Administration Team Spotlight

While you may recognize the team mostly through their involvement with our department-wide events, the team also provides invaluable support to the senior leadership team by helping them  prioritize their schedules, coordinate their calendars, and manage meeting logistics as necessary . Their collective endeavors extend to organizing pivotal meetings for  stakeholders from within and outside of UBC IT – often needing to coordinate even beyond UBC.

Delving into their specific roles, Ivan also contributes to various ongoing projects, including the Enterprise Data Governance initiative; and is also the one that oversees triaging administrative concerns that filter through the department Swati demonstrates unwavering commitment in maintaining the utmost precision in our CIO's calendar and meetings. She also provides support for governance meetings such as the IT Capital Planning Committee and the Architecture Review Board. Frances is at the helm of managing the team, and is also tasked with overseeing governance meetings, and spearheads the administration of the IT Advisory Committee. Additionally, Frances supports the CIO’s initiatives such as Digital UBC and Generative AI for UBC. As a cohesive unit, their efforts support the seamless flow of processes and operations. 

In addition, the admin team takes the lead in organizing departmental events, from our summer barbecues to winter-themed celebrations, to co-organizing the monthly Town Hall events, the team has been diligently working to coordinate intra and inter-departmental efforts to ensure amazing experiences for all attendees. The administration team shared how each event evolves thanks to the combined synergy of multiple teams, including finance, and communications – to name a few. 

Beyond the team’s event planning competencies, the team is composed of individuals with diverse interests. Swati's commitment to her strength training workouts is complemented by cherished moments spent with her energetic six-year-old daughter. Frances treasures family time and enjoys trying new and healthy recipes. Ivan, a perpetual learner, is presently pursuing a Masters in Divinity, a branch of Theological studies at a UBC- – affiliated graduate theological school, while enthusiastically embracing new hobbies.
