How to Access ubcprivate Wireless Network

In order to access ubcprivate, you must have a CWL account. CWL accounts are available to registered UBC students, staff and faculty.

Once you have a CWL account, follow the set up [link] instructions to configure your device.

For UBC faculty, staff and students, access to ubcprivate varies slightly from logging in to other UBC services. Your usual CWL ID is used for access and your department ID must be appended to it in order to identify UBC as your home institution. For example:

Login: Your_CWL_ID.department_ID
Password: Your_CWL_password

ubcprivate Configuration Settings

The basic information needed to configure a wireless device for the ubcprivate wireless network is as follows:

Network / SSID ubcprivate
Username Your_CWL_ID.Department_ID
Network Authentication Method WPA2
(also known as WPA2-PEAP, WPA2-RADIUS, or WPA2-Enterprise)
Data Encryption Settings AES (WPA2)
EAP Type PEAP
Authentication Protocol MS-CHAP-V2;
Certificate Server secure.wireless.ubc.ca
(if there is a mutual authentication option)
