CWL Password Update Support

Prior to Updating Your Password

Please disconnect from the following services before you reset your password to ensure you are not locked out from your account. The following services use EAD to login and changing your CWL password may result in you being locked out of these services.

Faculty and Staff Mail (FASmail)

Visit the FASMail service page

Microsoft Windows

  • Close all email client windows

Mac OS

  • Go to the Mail client
  • Select Mailbox in the top row
  • Select Take All Accounts offline

Android Phones

  • Go the Mail Application
  • Select the 3 dots "..." on the bottom right-hand corner of the screen
  • Select Settings
  • Select your UBC FASmail email account
  • Scroll to Data Usage
  • Select Inbox Check Frequency
  • Change frequency to Never

Apple iOS

  • Select Settings
  • Select Mail, Contacts and Calendars
  • Select your UBC FASmail Email Account
  • Select Mail and Calendar to Off

Home Drive

Visit the Homedrive service page

Windows

  • Disconnect from your Home Drive
  • Select the Start /Windows Button in the Bottom Left Hand Corner
  • Computer/My Computer
  • There will be a drive called username \\home.ead.ubc.ca )(H:)
  • It may be under a different drive letter but most drives are the H:\ Drive
  • Right-Click H:\
  • Select Disconnect

MAC OS

  • Drag your "Home Drive" to the "Trash" to disconnect the network drive

UBC Student Email Service

Visit the UBC Student Email service page

Android

  • Go the the Mail Application
  • Select the 3 dots "..." on the bottom right hand corner of the screen
  • Select Settings
  • Select your Student and Alumni Mail Account
  • Scroll to Data Usage
  • Select Inbox Check Frequency
  • Change frequency to Never

Apple iOS

  • Select Settings
  • Select Mail, Contacts and Calendars
  • Select your UBC Student and Alumni Mail Account
  • Select Mail and Calendar to Off

After Updating Your Password

If you find yourself unable to login to any services, but you can login to www.cwl.ubc.ca/myAccount please wait 30 minutes for your account to be unlocked or contact the UBC IT Service Centre at 604.822.2008.

Virtual Desktop Initiative (VDI)

  • Use your new CWL/EAD password to login to VDI

EAD Enabled Computer

  • Use your new CWL/EAD password to login to your UBC Network login-enabled computer

Cisco Secure Client myVPN

  • MacOS and Microsoft Windows
    • Use your new CWL/EAD password to login to login to VPN
  • Android
  • Apple

Re-Connect to H:\

FASmail

Android

  • Go the the Mail Application
  • Select the 3 dots "..." on the bottom right hand corner of the screen
  • Select Settings
  • Select your UBC email account
  • Scroll- down to Server Settings
  • Select Incoming Settings
  • Update your password to your new password
  • Select Done
  • Select Outgoing Settings
  • Update your password to your new password
  • Select Done
  • Scroll to Data Usage
  • Select Inbox Check Frequency
  • Change frequency to any option other than Never

Apple iOS

  • Select Settings
  • Select Mail, Contacts and Calendars
  • Select your UBC FASmail Email Account
  • Select your account
  • Update your CWL/EAD password
  • Select Done
  • Turn on your Mail and Calendar

Windows

  • Select the Windows/Start button in the bottom left hand corner
  • Select Control Panel
  • Windows 7: Select User Accounts and Family Safety
  • Select Mail
  • Enter your new CWL password when prompted

MacOS

  • Select Outlook in the top row
  • Select Preferences
  • Select your UBC FASmail Account
  • Enter New password in the Password Field
  • Open your Mail
  • Select Mail
  • Select Preferences
  • Select your FASmail Account
  • Select the Account Information tab
  • Enter your new password in the Password field

Wireless

Microsoft Windows and Mac OS

Apple iOS

  • After changing your password, the device should state that it was unable to join the network
  • Update your password
  • If no prompt appears, or you are unable to connect, setup wireless via AutoConnect or the manual setup instructions.
  • Select Settings
  • Select Wi-Fi
  • Select the blue arrow beside ubcsecure
  • Scroll down to Forget this Network
  • Setup ubcsecure again

Android

  • Select Settings
  • Select Wi-Fi
  • Press down on ubcsecure until Modify network shows up
  • Select Modify Network
  • Enter new CWL password

Student and Alumni Email

Android

  • Go the the Mail Application
  • Select the 3 dots "..." on the bottom right hand corner of the screen
  • Select Settings
  • Select your UBC Student and Alumni email account
  • Scroll- down to Server Settings
  • Select Incoming Settings
  • Update your password to your new password
  • Select Done
  • Select Outgoing Settings
  • Update your password to your new password
  • Select Done
  • Scroll to Data Usage
  • Select Inbox Check Frequency
  • Change frequency to any option other than Never

Apple iOS

  • Select Settings
  • Select Mail, Contacts and Calendars
  • Select your UBC Student and Alumni Email Account
  • Select your account
  • Update your CWL/EAD password
  • Select Done
  • Turn on your Mail and Calendar
