Windows Updates
Windows updates are deployed once a month after sufficient testing and validation has been completed. This allows the University to keep all computers updated and protected from security vulnerabilities. Updates are sent silently to computers to eliminate disruption to clients. These updates are communicated through the IT bulletins page.
To ensure the latest updates are applied after installation, an automatic restart initiative will begin, triggering a two-week countdown to automatically restart the computer. This ensures compliance with UBC's security standards.Learn more about Windows Automatic Restart Initiative.
Software Center
UBC Software Center is available for Windows-based UBC staff and faculty computers with an Enterprise Active Directory (EAD) account accessing the UBC network. Software Center makes it easy to quickly install university-approved software onto computers without having to submit a ticket through Desktop Services. Learn more about Software Center.
