Public spending cuts have threatened many institutions’ funding models in the first few years of this decade. UBC has responded to such pressure by providing innovation and an improved understanding of its customers. As the single largest provider of information technology services at UBC, UBC Information Technology (UBC IT) continues to play a critical role in supporting the university’s strategy for growth during these difficult times. UBC IT has released its 2012 Annual Report summarizing its operations and accomplishments for the fiscal year 2012/2013. The key focus areas for this year’s report include Innovation, Accountability, Collaboration and Cost-Effectiveness.
Through a commitment to leading edge technologies, process redesign, and organizational alignment with clients’ needs, UBC IT strives to work in principle with all its partners across UBC, and develops specific innovations in IT services that helps clients realize savings, improve services, and transform teaching and growth in research in a competitive world. UBC IT worked closely with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences on assisting their migration to the new Pharmaceutical Sciences Building this year. From the client perspective, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences is showcased in this year’s annual report summarizing their experience on setting up an award winning facility that required extensive information technology infrastructure.
