1. What type of credentials will my external users need?

They will need an EAD account which can be requested through the Help Desk.

2. What is the maximum number of files that you can keep on SharePoint?

The maximum file size that you can upload to SharePoint is 15GB. But there is a total limit of 100GB to the number of files that you can store on your SharePoint site. You can purchase additional storage space if necessary.

3. Where is the data hosted?

The data which users store within the SharePoint databases are stored in Canada at UBC's data centre.

4. Is SharePoint Mac-compatible?

SharePoint is accessible through your web browser with support for most browsers such as Firefox, Chrome, and Safari.

5. What browsers are supported for SharePoint?

Contact the person who currently has the file/folder in use to close it as they may have it open on another computer, browser, or VDI

9. SharePoint is throwing an error. What should I do?

You can contact the IT Helpdesk or fill-up the webform: https://web.it.ubc.ca/forms/isf/.  Please explain how you got the error and provide screenshots if possible.

11. I received "access denied". What should I do?

If you receive an error message that says "Sorry, this site hasn’t been shared with you" or "Error: Access Denied", this means that you don’t have permissions to view the contents.
You can request access from the page link, add a short note and click "Request Access".  An email will be sent to the team site's owner informing them that you want to access the site. 

12. I keep getting credential prompts.  How do I turn that off?

There are ways to minimize this security feature.  You can follow the instructions here to lessen prompting of your credentials.
