Design and Delivery Services

The Design and Delivery Services unit works with various stakeholders across campus and is responsible for the overall development and enhancement of the large project environment. The unit leads or participates in projects that are key to the development and growth of UBC. These include: Student Interaction Transformation Program (SITP), PeopleSoft Project Portfolio Development Team, Business Analyst & Quality Assurance, Project Management Office and Integrated Reporting (IR) program.

Teaching and Learning Services

The Teaching and Learning Services unit works closely with various stakeholders across campus and has overall responsibility for daily operations of all enterprise application services to further develop, integrate, support and maintain applications. These include: Student Information Systems (SIS), PeopleSoft - HRMS, Finance, Payroll, RISe, and Learning Management Systems (LMS). This unit also oversees the majority of campus AV Classroom support, under the oversight of the UBC IT AV Services team.

Engagement Services

The Engagement Services unit engages the UBC community by bringing together functional and technical expertise to define and implement practical, strategic customer-oriented services. It is the liaison between UBC IT and client groups, identifying opportunities and responding to client escalations. Playing a key strategic role to ensure brand integrity, best practices in service design and management activities.

Architecture, Strategy and Planning

The Architecture, Strategy and Planning unit develops and delivers a strategic framework to guide efficient and effective investments in processes, information and technology utilizing business, information, data and technical architectures. It maintains both a macro and micro view of the university's business goals, strategies, functions and processes and translates these into roadmaps for setting IT standards and common requirements, and guiding best practices.

Lots of patience; patience is a virtue.

What makes your department special?

We deal with a lot of intangibles; we have to bridge the future states of UBC and the reality we have today.

What can someone expect from a career in your department?

A career that is very challenging but equally rewarding. Expect to push your critical thinking skills and grow your interaction style. There is very little comfort zone with Enterprise Architecture.

Operations

The Operations unit develops and supports UBC's core information technology, via their hardware and software teams who apply a coordinated and consolidated approach to managing UBC's networks and systems, from the physical to the database level. The work oversees Network Planning and BCNET, Communication and Collaboration Technologies – such as Email and Voice, Connectivity and Network Management, Database Administration, Desktop Services, Identity and Access Management , and the IT Service Centre – who provide the only 24 x 7 IT Support model on campus

We are the foundation of almost everything IT does – when another group is doing their own thing, they still require our networks, databases, virtual servers, or other services.

Hard work, challenges both operationally and on a project basis, but also a lot of room to grow and provide highly-rewarding service to our customers.
